The Urine Therapy Federation of India (UTF) is a real, registered organisation, formed in 1995 to coordinate the many local and regional groups across India that had grown up independently around the practice of Shivambu — auto-urine therapy. Its constitution was drafted by Shri Vinubhai Gandhi, who served as its long-time president.
UTF is organised as a trust, with a Trust Board, an Executive Committee drawing representatives from across the country — Mumbai, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Kolkata, Bangalore, Kerala, Rajasthan and elsewhere — and an Advisory Board of senior practitioners and physicians. I have served as a member of the Executive Committee, representing Kolkata.
In practice, UTF's work is organisational rather than clinical: holding regional meetings and a periodic national conference, maintaining contact between practitioners in different states, and for many years supporting a Gujarati-language periodical, Shivambu, published by the Shivambu Chikitsa Sanshodhan Mandal in Vadodara. It does not operate as a medical body, issue clinical guidance, or replace registered medical practice.
