Traditional systems describe organ-specific cleansing routines — most often for the liver, kidneys and colon — usually built around a period of simple eating combined with a specific food, herb or practice said to support that organ.

What this actually is, honestly

The honest description is: a period of eating more simply, resting the digestive system, and drinking more water, dressed in the language of a specific organ. The healthy liver and kidneys already do this filtering work continuously and do not require a special regimen to "detoxify" in the way some commercial cleanse products imply — that framing is not well supported.

What is genuinely worth keeping

The underlying practice — a period of simpler eating and more rest — is genuinely restorative for most people, independent of whether a particular organ is being specifically "cleansed" in the way the tradition describes it.
